As per Sport, Manchester United are ready to spend big in the transfer window this summer as the club target a move for one of the stars of the show in Barcelona.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to build a team capable of competing right at the very top of the game and be able to win some major honours.
In order to do that, the club will need to spend big. It seems Man United have already earmarked a specific signing this season as the club have reportedly made a €100m bid for young Barcelona star Ansu Fati – although that was reportedly immediately rejected by Josep Maria Bartomeu.
That hasn’t deterred United though and the club are willing to go even higher in their pursuit of the 17-year-old wonderkid.
Barcelona aren’t interested in selling the player but, as per La Liga rules, he does have a release clause.
United are said to be testing the water right now but if the club are serious about the deal, they could look to trigger his €170m release clause. If that happened, there’d be very little Barcelona could do to stop the deal.
Ansu Fati’s camp are looking to gain some assurances as to his future and, if Barcelona cannot provide such things – he very well could look to move away.
If United are able to put down a bid higher than the one they have already reportedly offered then it will be tough for Barcelona to turn down.
The Catalan club have one or two financial issues caused by COVID-19 and are looking to move on some players this summer to fund moves for the likes of Lautaro Martinez and Neymar Jr.
